i cant wait for next episode or later when she realises that she screwed up by not accepting him. :)

Dase • 2 years ago

lol all of them do, except the ones who hates him because of grudges or altercations, and it takes them a while to realise that resistance is futile
She almost becomes his wife but due to the family's hatred of Tan Yun not to mention they are agents for another sect, it will never be, and if I remember correctly she takes wife number 7 away from the sect when Tan Yun was purging the sect of agents and spies

vio • 2 years ago

resistance is futile? star trek fan? lol that saying is used a lot in that movie/tv series for the borg.

I can understand why royalty would have so many wives but surprised that would be the same for commoners. We had a king of England in the past who used to steal the consummation nights of newly married couples which ended up as some medieval rule prima Nocta. I would love to see the shock on his face if the western commoners were the same as Asian's back then with multiple wives. lol

Dase • 2 years ago

Ahh yes ius primae noctis, right of the first night, but in Asian society, those that are well off or rich also practice having multiple wives, well in practice it is one wife and several concubines, concubines do not have the same right as the wife, they similar status as a servant, only higher, which is why any child from a concubine is considered an "bastard" or "illegitimate" though not exactly illegitimate since they have certain rights that illegitimate children in Western society wouldnt. These children will recognise the father's wife as the "legitimate" mother
Anyway getting out of topic, but such practices in Asian society (having multiple wives) stems mainly from the idea of propagating as many descendants as possible but in practice - lust :P
I guess in Western society it never really took off mainly due to the influences of the Catholic church, while Asian society never had that restraint lol
But yeah Shiyao and Gongsun Ruoxi's master regrets it later and tries to rope Tan Yun into her Murong family but since that horny little twerp outer sect disciple that was killed by Tan Yun in the outer sect trials, it made it all too difficult
Pity her character design is much better than Gongsun Ruoxi's

Did you change your profile pic from Mai Shiranui?

vio • 2 years ago

it was because of the influence of the catholic religion that I would love to see the shock on the kings face. Regarding the character design, I have a question regarding the makeup use of Gongsun. I know that makeup and jewellery was another form of fashion, but the way the makeup is done especially with the red colouring on the middle of her lips, is that still fashion or is it hinting that she works in a brothel?

Dase • 2 years ago

The such make up varies depending on each dynastic era, but in her case it was more of a nobility status, but it can be applicable to those working in a brothel, since courtesans would wear make up to emulate noble women and vice versa, though no noble women will ever admit to that lol
Commoners wouldnt use make up like that lol expensive and it is not practical to wear make up when working manual labour

vio • 2 years ago

I remember seeing it on courtesans and also in another donghua that I cant remember the name of with a fat man and a really skinny one that were dressed up like women. The skinny man had that same type of style on his lips too so it made me wonder if that was just something they did and not what noble women did.

Also, if you havent watched it yet, the new episode of dragons disciple is up to watch on that site you gave me.

lol Wang Chao says alcohol is a poison, but the woman insists, so he says forget about red wine how about Ergoutou (a Chinese liquor. It is a type of light-aroma baijiu made from sorghum) and she replies great, she can agree to that
She then asks where he lives and after dropping him off she calls someone to check him out
Wang Chao then practices some Drunken Fist Style and then reminisces about Tang Zichen and says he really misses her
Ooer look! The forums were wrong, they brought her back!! Woo hoo!
Group says they are surrounded and only way out is to charge out
And there is no way you can back throw a grenade like that, it will fall about a metre or two away from you!
Tang Zichen is a beautiful woman (then punches)
AND buuuuuuuuuuuuuu it was all a dream!
Wang Chao: Drank too much, even when dreaming, I still dream of sister Chen, dont know how she is doing
I cant live drunkenly and dream of death, in order to to feel that sister Chen still exists I need to go train!! Need to go train!!
Falls off

Oh good! It's a challege now! (can also be translated as Ok Bring it on!)
Sister Chen, I dont know where you are, I dont even know whether I can help you, but I Wang Chao, will never give up on training, wont give up on thinking about you (WOW) and also wont give up on being your.... AAGGRHHHH! falls off
The investigation into Wang Chao's address have yielded some results, the ownership was recently transferred to Wang Chao, so the didnt discover this when they did a background check on him when he was applying for the position of instructor, because of government delays they werent able to obtain the information required in a timely manner so the information wasnt available
Phone - A challenge (someone is challenging the dojo, literal translation is kicking the dojo, it is like medieval time when someone uses a glove to throw on the floor as a challenge)
Student was telling Wang Chao that the challenger is not the same as the ones before, this was seem to be an university student and is ruthless, Wang Chao replies he's been waiting for this for a while
LOL both were arguing about their educational background, dont forget Wang Chao just graduated from high school, and he makes a big deal out of it, the challengers says something is wrong with his brains which triggers him lol
The women are talking about the educational background as well, throwing shade (subtlety directing at Wang Chao) to which he says he needs to be magnanimous

I thought it was funny when she got gut punched and then he started puking. When it happened I said out loud "I hope you got a bin there and not just puking on the carpet". That would be nasty to clean up the next day if he didnt.

Dase • 2 years ago

Ewweee next day, not a pleasant smell to wake up from either lol

vio • 2 years ago

not to mention if he was eager to use the toilet in the middle of the night and as he was getting up stepped in it.... just nasty. I had to mention that because it may happen with some :P

Which donghua is that female character from on your profile picture?

Dase • 2 years ago

Ewweee, lucky he didnt have carpet, otherwise it will be hard to get rid of the smell
Oh it is Kitagawa Marin from Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru created by wickellia, found it on their twitter, they are also a NSFW artist, didnt realise until someone pointed it out to me who saw on my retweet

vio • 2 years ago

lol I agree.
I would have never associated the two as one is an anime and that picture is 3D. I thought it was another donghua that I havent seen yet which is why I was curious.

Dase • 2 years ago

Ahh I cropped the picture so it would seem like 3D, if you saw their works you can see it is drawn 3D art and not 3D CGI, not sure if you heard of Sakimichan or Zumi, their works is like those two, both are also NSFW artists lol, my usual picture profile is drawn by Da Congjun, who is a SFW artists lol
If only the animes were drawn like the picture profile lol

vio • 2 years ago

I saw the original image of her in the school girl outfit doing the V sign and it was done pretty good. To be honest, I don't usually search for graphical images much so I'm not up to date with the names of the artists. I had to search earlier today though as I got tired of people getting excited over my previous pic of Mai.

I don't know how much of the anime fanbase we'd lose if it was like that as there are a lot of fussy people out there who dislike watching 3D/CGI work. I actually like how it is at the moment with Japan focusing on anime while China focuses on donghua/anime's as it sets them apart based on their different work.

Dase • 2 years ago

Ahh I follow a few artists on twitter so I get random recommendations or retweets from friends so I sometime check them out and saw wickellia and thought it looked like the way my usual profile picture looks like, with the hand over her forehead and decided to use it lol then was told by a friend that the artist is also a NSFW artist lol

Ahh well Mai Shiranui is very well endowed ^_^ which is why I crop my pictures to just the face

Yeah there are a lot of fussy people out there, purists and all, I just like to watch the work for the story

Eh? Why does everyone blame the Catholics for everything. Eastern Orthrodox is literally the exact same religion. The faith was split, with the Bishop of Rome and the Bishop of Constantinople arguing for leadership of the early church.

Rome was where Peter and Paul were martyred vs Constaninople, the largest and wealthiest city in the world, as well as the capitol of the empire.

The East had a far larger and more technologically advanced population and even control of the holy land for hundreds of years until Islam took over there. Even today, the Coptics are orthrodox.

As for marriage, It is the same for both. But there wasn't usually a traditon in the west about legitimizing the children of mistresses or concubines that are more of an eastern thing.

Dase • 2 years ago

Like vio I wasnt blaming the Catholic Church, I was merely mentioning it was because of their influence, the West views marriages differently, the Church by the way influenced the entirety of the West's history up to the 16th century, I would say it heavily influenced the way polygamy is viewed

I dont understand why you raved about the Catholic Church being split into two since their fundamental teachings will basically still remain the same - They still follow the bible whatever way they interpret it, and I am not here to argue or discuss about the split, since the split got nothing to do with how the West views multiple marriage

And the fact is Christianity when they are Christians or Catholics - condemns or frown upon polygamy - In the bible "1 Corinthians 7 and states that polygamy is unlawful; and that one man is to have but one wife, and to keep to her; and that one woman is to have but one husband, and to keep to him"

If you want to ignore and remove the church's influence in history, then provide a reasonable explanation as to why in the West polygamy never took off like in the East

vio • 2 years ago

Even though the West has law's against it, there are those who still commit polygamy or are open to those idea's which is down to their religion and/or personal beliefs. I know of one couple in the US who are in an open marriage and it wouldnt surprise me if later they consider the idea of it if they find someone they really like. It was also covered in a tv series from the US called 'swat' in which they had a few episodes covering the idea of 3 people getting married together that included one of the swat officers.

TheMMSpirit • 2 years ago

Interesting question. And a good post from you.

I'm not a history professor, yet I have to believe the West's aversion to polygamy was likely the Latin influence. Latins were extremely conservative, basicly prudish as compared to another of their major influencers, the greeks. Of course Christianity followed and cemented that notion. The waves of Germanic tribes were also Christian by the time Rome was captured and ruled in successive dynasties.

The East however had more cultural traditons of polygamy. The Persian influence of course, Jewish influence - though often only one wife, they could have "maids" for their husband. Egypt and the various middleeastern tribes had never a problem with polygamy. The Slavs were influenced by their more prosperous neighbors the Turks (then Byzantines) and Greeks. After which followed Islam, springing up from a region of polygamy, it is in its roots. Mongols who colonized the Balkans and Russia were also culturally prone to it.

So, to summarize into a single sentence to answer your question, I would say " the pre-Christian Latin influence"

vio • 2 years ago

I wouldnt say they are blamed for everything, its just that due to the catholic religion they were taught to think a certain way. Even today there are still debates on whether polygamy is accepted or not to the point there is a whole wiki page dedicated to covering it. There is also multiple sites providing an actual list of which parts of the world allow it that are not just situated in the East.

This extract was taken from a quick google search on polygamy in England with a brief cover of how it was handled...
Already in Anglo-Saxon times, England condemned polygamy as a serious moral offense. But until 1604, it was left to church courts to punish polygamists using spiritual punishments. In 1604, however, Parliament enacted the Polygamy Act that made polygamy a capital crime, punishable by secular courts.

One secret is out, need another episode just for the reaction lol

The pleasure and satisfaction I will receive when all his wives' masters released they fumbled the bag big time. Everybody wanted to be emotional and petty and now look, y'all out here on a mission to seek out a disciple that not one, not two, not three but four people said was good.

Like nothing in the back of your heads didn't tell you that maybe he was exceptional considering he helped both his wives and his sister-in-law picked the most suitable master accurately? Just silly smh. Oh well such is life one man's trash is another man's treasure. And I shall treasure their reactions when they realize they messed up and the MC more than likely will reject their pursuits. Lol I love it here!

MR STOLEN Donghua • 2 years ago

killing spree 😂

Man can't wait next episode when she realize the one with the trashy fetus, that no one wanted turn out to be the most promising beyond their teachings lol. Its like everybody going for the good shit in front of them, but don't realize the most valuable and treasure is covered with trashy shit.

Aerlis Ambrosius • 2 years ago

"trashy fetus" indeed although I am not really a fan of that version of translation. I rather prefer "Nascent Soul" instead of "Spiritual Fetus" or just "Fetus" - it just sound pretty sick to keep talking about a fetus.

yea it does sound absurd to call " fetus" in this manner. Why talk bout a unborn child in this way, but that's how they dialogue it even if its in a inappropriate way right.

Aerlis Ambrosius • 2 years ago

However, this is indeed a certain level of Daoist internal alchemy in real life. It isn't quite as flashy as what you see here but represents having a certain level of achievement in your energy mediation practice. I prefer the term "Nascent Soul"
